 What do you do if.....

  • You suspect a damp or timber problem in your property?

  • A guarantee has expired or the issuing company is no longer in business and you believe there might be a problem?

  • You have had several conflicting reports and opinions on a damp or timber problem and you do not know which one to believe?

If you know very little about damp and timber problems in buildings you will almost certainly have to rely upon the opinion of a commercially trading contractor about whom you know very little. It is important to realise however that contractors earn their living by treating what they consider to be necessary so they have a significant vested interest in their own diagnosis.

So what do you do?

The answer is to engage the services of a suitably qualified and experienced independent surveyor but alas there are not too many of these across the country as most work for contractors.

Property Guarantee Administration (PGA) is able to offer an independent survey service for all matters relating to damp proofing and timber treatment in buildings. This service operates predominantly in the North of England, but we make regular visits to London and the South East. Obviously a moderate fee is payable for this service but often this is more than counteracted by saving unnecessary or unjustified treatment. For our current fees and charges click here.
